Word Ladders (for fun!)
Word Ladder is a word game invented by Lewis Carroll. A word ladder puzzle begins with two words. To solve the puzzle one must find a chain of other words to link the two, in which two adjacent (next to) words differ by one letter. Click on a button below to try your hand at a Word Ladder!

March 31st-7th
Much of the English language is based on ancient Greek/Latin roots! One of the best ways to build your vocabulary (other than reading, reading, reading as much as you can) is learning the meanings of "roots" or parts of words. This week take some time to think about words you know with these roots: re- (again), sub-(under), sol-(sun), & pre-(before) and try to fill in each part of your trifold! I will post a new set each week for you to try. I will also put up an answer key one week after my original post for you to use to check your answers. Click on the file below to download our very first set! I'll also be posting a video later today demonstrating how to do these!

Math: Number Circuits & Problem Solving Playlist
Helpful tips and strategies for solving circuit problems.
- Complete the sets in order. They get more difficult as you go. Completing the easier ones first will help prepare you for the later problems.
- Use only the numbers they give you and write them in a list or table off to the side. That way you can cross through them as you use them and you'll know which numbers you have left.
- Guess-and-check is a great strategy. When you try something, write lightly so it is easy to erase and adjust the numbers up and down accordingly.
- Pay close attention to the signs/symbols for operations and read the clues more than once.
- Remember that adding two small numbers will get you a small number and adding two large numbers in a set will get you a large number. Use this type of thinking to be strategic about which numbers you choose to combine.
- Think about jotting a list of combinations to try if you are trying to get a certain answer. For example, if you are given the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 to use and you need a sum of 7--write down all three combinations and try them in order.: 1+6, 2+5, and 3+4.
- As a LAST RESORT, you can check the answer key and work backwards from the answer if there is one you are REALLY stuck on!
